A Helpful Hint

12/5/12

In today's flight lesson, we decided to fly to the Coldwater airport again for some Takeoff and Landing practice. It is easier on a student pilot to focus on flying the airplane without the added complications of communicating with the air traffic controllers. On the way to Coldwater we practiced some more engine failure procedures. I completed these with more success than last week.

Upon arrival at Coldwater we entered left traffic for runway 7. We did 5 landings at OEB. There was just one thing missing on all of my landings! On every landing, I touched down on all three wheels instead of just the main gear. Then, Craig gave me a tip for a sight-picture to use upon touchdown. After that, all of my landings were satisfactory to my own standards.

This flight really made me frustrated. I was very hard on myself for my bad landings and couldn't understand what I was doing that was wrong. I wanted to give up. But the inner voice in my head pushes me along through the long journey to become a pilot.
