A Plane and a Runway
11/4/12
Today's lesson was by far my best! Everything I have previously learned was reviewed with much improvement. Steep turns went a lot better for me! I didn't lose or gain much altitude at all! I used to go off heading a little on each of my power-off stalls. Today's power-off stall, however, I didn't change heading one bit. Craig decided he wanted to take me to another airport to practice some takeoffs and landings. He decided to take my to Coldwater airport because it is not towered and does not have much traffic. This way, I could just focus on flying the airplane.
We completed 4 landings at the Coldwater airport. When there was another aircraft on the approach for an intersecting runway, we decided to do a go-around for some practice.
On our way back to JXN we didn't do anything but cruise. It was here when I realized how much I love flying. i was climbing to an altitude and actually missed it because I was just enjoying looking at the scenery.
The flying club has two aircraft for its members to fly: a 1967 and a 1958, both of which are Cessna 172's. I normally fly N2419L; the 1967. That aircraft was reserved for the entire day so I was forced to have a lesson in N6998A. So, on our cruise back to JXN, I also realized that I don't need digital enhancements or fancy autopilots to get me anywhere. All I need is a plane and a runway.
