Pattern Work

02/17/13

It's time to really crack down on my takeoffs and landings seeing as how my 16th brithday is coming up rapidly. My goal is to solo on my birthday so it's time to fix up anything that needs fixing and landings were one. Weather was very good today so it was perfect to get some practice in. I had to work pretty late though and the sun sets at an early hour this time of year. So, after work, I rushed home and grabbed my clothes and equipment to fly!

As I approached the airplane, I noticed that someone had squawked about a vacuum failure on the aircraft. The vacuum system on the aircraft provides readings to a variety of intruments including the heading indicator and the attitude indicator. But, neither of these instruments were required to fly in the conditions we were so we got in and taxiied to Runway 32.

There was a slight crosswind but not too fast so my takeoffs were completed no problem. Those are becoming natural to me now. My first approach was a bit high so I went around. After that, I got the hang of it and only went around one other time. I also had one not so good landing. But, Craig said my landings were solo quality so hopefully when the day comes I am able to solo and live the dream.

After a while, it got dark and was time to put the plane away. Now it's time to put my head in the books!
